Kris De Plecker is a multidisciplinary artist and a teacher at the “Sint-Lukas Kunsthumaniora” in Brussels. Amongst hundreds of the flea market objects and books that fill his studio, the artist prints his unique work. His works on paper are woodcuts, printed as a pièce unique and built up layer by layer. Each work is a try-out of colors and pattern combinations. This latest work, a series of drawings in which he configures visual aspects as background, foreground and all the spaces in between. In that way that the viewer has no direct entrance or orientation in the drawing or the prints. A certain transparency is inherent in the work, partly due to the absorbing slightly yellowed paper made during the second world war that the artist uses for almost all his creations. The frames are handmade by the artist himself in natural oak or black.
