Works and lives in Olen (BE).

Painting is an intense experience for Leo Jacobs. The paint itself seems to be put on the canvas or aluminium in a reckless way. But when you look more closely, you’ll see a structure or pattern and several layers will become visible. Jacobs works on large aluminium plates. He approaches his “canvas”, here a rectangular aluminum surface, as if in a combat. The artist engages in a heroic struggle in which he, armed with unusual materials such as a wide pallet knives, attacks the painting.
Each new work he sets up is again a challenge, an opponent. The result of this fierce, sometimes furious creative process is often very fragmented and a jumble of lines, spots and dots.
