Victoria Calleja

Lives and works in Brussels (BE).

Central to the work of this in Chile born artist are the shapes and their space in which they resides. She examines the form of the painted subject and its place on the canvas. The conjunction of these two elements feature her paintings. Her South American roots are undeniably present in every artwork.

In her sculptures, Victoria remains mysterious. A solid base is pierced with hundreds of needles. The graceful figures acquire an aura as if they were voodoo objects.
