Marit Otto is a Dutch visual artist with a multidisciplinary oeuvre. Her autonomous work includes painting, collage, installation, digital art, photo manipulation, video art and 3d.

For the Bernice rental collection we selected 3 paintings from Marit’s series “Metropolitans”. The series Metropolitans, created as of the year 2012,  is about the urban dweller who has become detached from his concrete surroundings or has completely merged with them. He gives in to his own nature and breaks away from nature and the laws of nature. While his longing for the primal nature never subsides, he has to deal with his concrete jungle. As a prisoner of laws and conventions, he explores the limits of his freedom.
