The work of Mathieu Weemaels is figurative and sensitive. He portrays everyday objects in a simple and modest way. In his studio he makes compositions with objects that he then paints on canvas. Reality is not the subject that is portrayed, it is loneliness, the meditation that induces the reflection of objects, bodies or nature. A still life, a landscape, these are all banal subjects that invite the viewer to look elsewhere for the meaning behind the artwork. He calls it poetic peace and reality.
