The painting technique of Chris Vanderschaeghe is clear, we see a light and fairly invisible touch. His use of paint is serene and his backgrounds are always uniform. The figures themselves do get a certain layered texture. He keeps it sober and recognisable. Form seems simple at first and he sticks to the classical figuration.
