Celle Van Haverbeke
Painter, ° 1950
Lives and works in Merksem (BE)
Celle Van Haverbeke’s work starts off with a photo that catches his interest, the topic needs to have a story. He manipulates this photos digitally, eliminates most details and brings color groups together. Celle is using a special technique: he applies tape over the entire canvas and cuts pieces before adding the same colors. Then he applies paint to the canvas with a roller. In this way a very uniform color surface is obtained, no brushstroke can be seen. Colors and shapes are clearly defined. Celle’s former job as a graphic designer is always present in his clear line painings.
