After a trip to New York, Carl Soete was completely captivated by the energy that a big city radiates. Trained as a graphic designer his fascination for signs, symbols and icons is present in every painting.
Gradually the signs become more abstract. Form in itself is no longer important, the graphic element is replaced by the true essence of what they want to convey as an idea. The colors become powerful and cover the entire pallet. The city with its landmarks, symbols, shapes and colours is a playground for Carl Soete. His cities never sleep.
