Lives and works in Sint-Gillis-Waas (BE)

After studying painting, Ingrid Bonnaerens wanted to paint abstractly in her own style with a leading role for matter, structure and pure pigment. She paints with tempera that she makes herself in her studio (tempera is a mixture of egg, linseed oil and pigments). She selects the pigments herself during her travels to the south of Europe. Her oeuvre is characterized by a recurring soft and rather earthy color palette.
For the composition of her paintings, the artist is guided by her intuition. Working on the panels with plaster, cement or other media in scratches, lines and plane forms form an investigation into structures and leas to a quiet composition.
