Bertrand Catteuw studied sculpture at the Royal Academy in Ghent (1984). He starts every figurative sculpture with a mould in clay. This mould is filled with bronze, plaster or polyester to make the sculpture’s final version. Catteuw’s work is realistic and true-to-life made with a great eye to detail and a classical touch. His athletic figures have a powerfull appearance, a reference to the artist’s own sportive skills and admiration for the human body. Sometimes the figures and subjects are autobiographical. All sculptures are presented on a matching pedestals.
