When Bart Daems started to practice painting in 2015, he could draw on his experience as a graphic designer and trained typographer to shape, design and arrange forms in a visually appealing way. His skill in text design is mainly reflected in the titles he gives his paintings. A link to surrealism and the creative approach to a subject characterizes his visual language. He writes about his own work: “My works represent a reflection of my vision, in which the process is central, not the perfection of the end product.” This fact again stems from Bart’s training as a graphic artist. He uses different materials (canvas, paper, cardboard, wood, …) and refuses to limit himself to one style.
