A sharp observation, a world that is questioned, seemingly emotionless, painted in a subdued colour palette. That is the eessence of Wivina’s paintings.
Emotions are deliberately not depicted, which makes the work paradoxically very confrontational. The world depicted is never unambiguous. There is always darkness in the lightness, light in the darkness, resilience in the pain, compassion in the harshness.
